Garden State Parkway (142–154) serves Irvington, East Orange and Bloomfield; the exits we meet cars at are Garden State Parkway Exit 145, Garden State Parkway Exit 143, Garden State Parkway Exit 144, Garden State Parkway Exit 147 and Garden State Parkway Exit 149 (via Bloomfield). In East Orange: Exits 145 and 147 serve the city; shoulders are narrow and the ramps back up at rush hour. In Bloomfield: Exits 148, 149, 150 and 151 serve Bloomfield; the shoulders are narrow and the Exit 148 interchange is a frequent crash site.

On the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway the shoulder itself is served by the Turnpike Authority's authorized garages; book with us anyway, and once the authorized truck has the car off the highway we take it from the exit or the garage's lot to the shop or driveway you choose, at the same flat quoted price.

I-78 serves Newark. In Newark: Cuts through the south side toward the Turnpike and Newark Bay; the express and local split near Hillside catches people out. Exits we use: I-78 Exit 50 (via Millburn/Union) and I-78 Exit 48 (via Springfield).

In Newark: Runs west from the Turnpike through downtown toward the Oranges; steep on-ramps and stop-and-go at rush hour. In East Orange: Runs east-west through the middle of the city toward Newark and the Oranges; steep ramps at Harrison Street. Exits we use: I-280 Exit 12, I-280 Exit 13, I-280 Exit 8 (via West Orange), I-280 Exit 10 and I-280 Exit 11.

Exits we use: Route 21 at Belleville Turnpike / Rutgers Street, Route 3 at Route 21 and Route 21 at Nutley / Kingsland Street.

Route 10 runs through or borders West Orange and Livingston. In West Orange: Retail and office corridor toward Livingston; jughandles and heavy traffic. In Livingston: Retail and dealer corridor through the middle of town; jughandles, heavy weekend traffic, and the mall interchange.

Route 24 runs through or borders Millburn and Short Hills. In Short Hills: The JFK Parkway interchange at the mall is the main access; fast traffic and short merge lanes. In Millburn: Runs across the township with the Mall at Short Hills interchange; shoulders are decent but traffic is fast. Exits we use: Route 24 Exit 7 (JFK Parkway / Mall at Short Hills) and Route 24 Exit 8.

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority allows only its authorized garages to tow or work on the shoulder of the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway, and we are not one of them yet.
