Call nowSame rule as every EV
The Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, Kia EV6 and EV9 are closely related electric vehicles, offered with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. The towing answer does not change with the drive type: put it on a flatbed. Both brands' owner's manuals have a towing section that says how the car should be transported; read it while you wait, or pull up the digital manual on your phone.
When you call (908) 444-0129, say the make and model and describe what the car is doing. The dispatcher quotes before the truck rolls: a flat hook fee plus a per-mile rate to the destination you choose, with no night, weekend or holiday surcharges.
One call, one flat quote, 24/7.
Call nowThe small battery is the usual culprit
Like other EVs, these cars use a 12-volt battery to boot up, unlock and run the electronics. When it is drained, the car can look completely dead even with plenty of range in the main pack. A car parked for a week or two, or one with a dashcam wired in, is a common case. A jump start on the 12-volt side often brings it back; the owner's manual shows where the jump point is.
If the main pack is empty, no jump will help, and the car rides to a charger. If you are not sure which it is, say what the dashboard shows and what happens at the door handle.
One call, one flat quote, 24/7.
Call nowAfter a collision
If the car has been in a crash, call 911 first if anyone is hurt. Then book accident towing and tell the driver about any high-voltage warning, smoke, hissing or a smell from under the car. Keep people back from a damaged battery pack.
Choose the destination before the truck arrives: a dealer with EV service, a body shop your insurer works with or one you pick yourself, or home. The flatbed towing guide explains how EVs are loaded and secured.
One more thing worth knowing: some EVs have a small reserve that allows the car to creep a short distance after the range reads zero, and some do not. Do not count on it. If the range is very low and you are near a charger, go there directly, and do not stop on a highway shoulder to wait for a recharge that will not come.
When the car rides to a charger, the driver needs to know which charger and whether it is open. Pick one with access at the hour you are calling, and say so on the phone.
