How much does an emergency tow cost in New Jersey?
An emergency tow costs a flat hook fee plus loaded mileage from where the car is to where you want it, quoted on the call before the truck leaves Linden. The hook depends on the truck the vehicle needs: a wheel-lift for a two-wheel-drive car that rolls is slightly less than the flatbed an AWD, electric or non-rolling car requires, and a heavy wrecker is more again. Mileage depends on the destination you choose. The hour, the day, the weather and the town never move the number; there are no night, weekend, holiday or fuel surcharges, no passenger fee and no membership. Call (908) 444-0129 with the location, the make and model and the destination for the exact price.
How fast can an emergency tow truck get to me?
Inside Union County and the neighboring parts of Middlesex and Essex, most arrivals are well under 30 minutes. At the edge of the 45-minute area — Morristown, Hackensack, Freehold, Paterson — plan on 35 to 45 minutes, longer at rush hour or in a storm. The dispatcher gives you a real window based on where the nearest truck is.
Is there an extra charge for an emergency or night tow?
No. Emergency, night, weekend and holiday tows are quoted on the same flat hook-plus-mileage structure as a weekday afternoon. There is no fuel surcharge either.
Can I ride in the tow truck?
In most cases one passenger can ride in the cab to the destination. Tell the dispatcher how many people are with the car.
Do you need my insurance or AAA information?
No. You pay us directly and we give you an itemized receipt to submit to your insurer or roadside plan. Most plans reimburse an out-of-network emergency tow.
Do you tow AWD and electric vehicles in an emergency?
Yes, on a flatbed only, so no drive wheels are dragged. Tell us the make and model and the right truck comes the first time.
The car is in a low parking garage. Can you get it out?
The flatbed usually cannot fit inside. We bring skates or a dolly, move the car to the entrance and load it outside. Tell the dispatcher the garage name and level.
Where will you take the car?
Anywhere you choose: your mechanic, a dealer, a body shop, your driveway. Never a storage yard we picked. Destinations outside the 45-minute area are quoted at the per-mile rate.
What should I do while I wait on the highway?
Get the car as far right as the shoulder allows with the wheels turned away from traffic and the hazards on. Stay belted in the car unless the car itself is in danger; then get behind the guardrail away from it. Keep your phone charged; the driver calls when he is minutes out.
The police called a rotation tow already. Can you still take it?
If our truck arrives in a reasonable time and the scene is not blocking traffic, most officers in Union, Middlesex and Essex County towns will release the car to a private tow. Tell the officer your tow is on the way.
What if the car just needs a jump or a tire?
Say so, or describe the symptom and let the dispatcher decide. A roadside technician is usually cheaper than a tow and gets you driving. If it turns out to need the truck, the flatbed is dispatched from the same call.
My electric car ran out of charge on the Parkway. Is that an emergency tow?
Yes, and it is a common one. Turnpike and Parkway shoulders are served by the Authority's authorized garages. Book with us and we take the car from the exit or the garage's lot. An EV with zero range cannot be driven or dragged, so from there it rides our flatbed to a charger, your garage or the dealer. Put the car in tow or transport mode if the screen still responds; if the twelve-volt battery is dead as well, the wheels may be locked and the driver brings skates. Tell the dispatcher the model. A Tesla, an Ioniq and a Mach-E each have their own procedure and the truck arrives with the right ramps and the low-angle deck. The price is the same flat hook plus mileage as any other emergency tow, quoted before the truck rolls.
I have two kids and a dog in the car. How does the ride to the shop work?
Say so on the call and the dispatcher plans it before the truck leaves. One passenger usually rides in the cab, and most drivers will take a leashed dog or a carrier with you. A family does not fit, so we arrange the practical version: a relative or rideshare meeting you at the destination, or a tow to your driveway tonight and a local tow to the shop tomorrow so nobody waits on a shoulder. Take the car seats out before the car is loaded; the shop will not do it for you. On a highway, everyone stays belted in the car until the truck is positioned behind you.
A State Police trooper or the Turnpike safety patrol stopped behind me. Will they let me wait for your truck?
On the Turnpike or the Parkway, do not wait for us on the shoulder. Turnpike and Parkway shoulders are served by the Authority's authorized garages. Book with us and we take the car from the exit or the garage's lot. Tell the trooper or patrol driver where the car is going and give them our number; the authorized truck brings it to the nearest safe spot or its own lot, and we pick the car up from there on your signed release the same day so the storage clock stops before it adds up. On any other road, stopped on a shoulder and not blocking traffic, usually yes: tell them a private flatbed is on the way from Linden, give the honest window the dispatcher quoted you, and most troopers and officers will let you wait.
Can you tow me off the New Jersey Turnpike or the Garden State Parkway?
The New Jersey Turnpike Authority allows only its authorized garages to tow or work on the shoulder of the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway, and we are not one of them yet. Call us anyway. The dispatcher tells you how to reach the Authority's roadside help, and you book the rest of the job with us: the moment the authorized truck has the car off the highway, at the nearest exit or in the garage's lot, our truck takes over and moves it to the shop, the dealer or the driveway you choose, at our normal flat quoted price.
Flatbed Towing: 14 answers
Everything drivers ask us about flatbed towing. More on the flatbed towing page and in the flatbed towing guide.
How much does flatbed towing cost in New Jersey?
Flatbed towing costs a flat hook fee plus loaded mileage to the destination you choose, quoted on the call before the truck leaves Linden. The flatbed hook is slightly higher than a wheel-lift hook because it is a bigger truck and a longer load; the per-mile rate is the same, and for an AWD, electric or lowered car the difference is far smaller than the repair a wheel-lift can cause. Distance moves the number, and recovery work or a second truck is said up front. The hour, the day, the weather, the town, a winch load, skates or a passenger do not; no night, weekend, holiday or fuel surcharges, no membership. Call (908) 444-0129 with both addresses for the exact price.
Does a flatbed cost more than a regular tow?
Slightly. The hook fee is a little higher because it is a larger truck and a longer load; the per-mile rate is the same. For AWD, EV and low cars the difference is far less than the repair a wheel-lift can cause. The dispatcher quotes the exact number before the truck leaves Linden.
Can you tow a Tesla on a flatbed?
Yes, and only on a flatbed. We use Transport Mode where the car supports it and skates or dollies when it does not. The drive wheels never turn under load. Tell us the model so the driver arrives set up.
My car is all-wheel-drive. Do I really need a flatbed?
Yes. Lifting two wheels and rolling the other two spins the center differential or transfer case dry and can destroy it in a few miles. Every AWD and 4WD manual says the same thing. We will not send anything else.
My car is lowered. Will it scrape going up the bed?
Not with us. We carry race ramps and boards to raise the front wheels through the transition so the chin clears. Say the car is lowered on the call and the driver brings them.
The car will not roll or steer. Can a flatbed still take it?
Yes. It is winched up the deck at a shallow angle, with a dolly or skates under any wheel that will not turn. A car that will not roll is exactly what the winch is for.
My car is in a parking garage with a low ceiling. Can a flatbed reach it?
Usually not inside; most decks are under seven feet. We skate or dolly the car to the entrance and load it outside. Tell the dispatcher the garage name and the level.
Will the car be strapped or chained?
Strapped at the tires with soft wheel straps. Chains never touch the body or the suspension. On a car with tight wheel arches we use sleeved axle straps and tell you first.
Can I ride along in the flatbed?
In most cases one passenger can ride in the cab. Tell the dispatcher how many people are with the car.
Can you tow a motorcycle on the flatbed?
Yes, upright in a locking front-wheel chock with soft loops on the triple tree and frame. Never a sling. See the motorcycle towing page for the full method.
Can I schedule a flatbed for a specific time?
Yes. Dealer, shop and buyer transports get a window you choose, same-day or next-day, and the driver calls before he arrives. Accounts get a direct line and a monthly invoice.
Will my insurance or roadside plan pay for a flatbed tow?
Collision coverage almost always reimburses an accident tow to a repair shop. Most roadside memberships reimburse an out-of-network tow up to the plan limit. Our itemized receipt shows pickup, destination, mileage and service, which is what they ask for.
An AWD, an EV or a lowered car still gets the flatbed for that leg.
How far will a flatbed go?
Anywhere within about 45 minutes of Linden on the emergency promise, and anywhere in the Northeast on a quoted long-distance run. Get a price for both addresses on the call.
Accident Towing: 17 answers
Everything drivers ask us about accident towing. More on the accident towing page and in the accident towing guide.
How much does accident towing cost in New Jersey?
An accident tow is priced like every other tow: a flat hook fee plus loaded mileage from the scene to the shop or driveway you choose, quoted on the call before the truck leaves Linden. Winching, dollies and the lane cleanup are part of the hook, not extra lines. The number moves with the truck the job needs, since a heavy wrecker costs more than a flatbed, and with the distance to your destination. It does not move with the hour, the day, the weather or the town; no night, weekend, holiday or fuel surcharges, no storage, no membership. Call (908) 444-0129 with the location and destination for the exact price.
Will insurance pay for the accident tow?
Collision coverage almost always includes the tow from the scene to a repair shop. If the other driver was at fault, their liability coverage typically reimburses it. We give you an itemized receipt with pickup, destination and mileage, which is what adjusters ask for.
Can I tow the car to my house instead of a shop?
Yes, anywhere you choose. Make sure the car can be off the street; many towns ticket wrecked vehicles parked at the curb. A local tow to the shop later is quoted at the same flat rate.
The police already called a rotation tow. Can you still take it?
If our truck arrives in a reasonable time and the scene is not blocking traffic, most officers in Union, Middlesex and Essex County towns will release the car to a private tow. Tell the officer your tow is on the way and where the car is going.
My car is already at a rotation yard. Can you get it out?
Yes. You sign a release, we pick it up, pay the yard on your behalf and put it on your receipt, and deliver to your shop. Doing it the same day stops the storage clock.
Do I have to use the body shop my insurer recommends?
No. New Jersey lets you take the car to any licensed repair facility. An insurer can recommend a direct-repair shop but cannot require it.
What if the car will not roll or steer?
It is winched onto the flatbed at an angle, with a dolly or skates under the damaged wheel. A car that will not roll is exactly what the winch and the boards are for.
Can I ride in the tow truck to the shop?
In most cases one passenger can ride in the cab. Tell the dispatcher how many people are with the car so we can plan for it.
Will you clean up the glass and fluids?
Yes. The driver sweeps the debris out of the travel lane and puts absorbent on oil or coolant before leaving. It is part of the job.
What should I take out of the car before it is towed?
Registration and insurance card, wallet, phone and charger, medication, garage opener, EZ-Pass, child seats, and anything in the trunk you need. The shop will not go through the car for you.
Do you tow crashed electric or AWD cars?
Yes, on a flatbed only, with skates or a dolly under damaged wheels. EVs with high-voltage damage are handled with the isolation the manufacturer specifies and we tell the shop what we saw.
What if the car is totaled?
It usually has to move again, to the insurer's salvage yard or a buyer, and that is a scheduled flatbed job at the quoted rate. If you are keeping it, we bring it home.
Is an accident tow more expensive than a regular tow?
The price is the same flat hook fee plus mileage. Winching a car that will not roll is part of the hook, not a separate charge. The dispatcher quotes it before the truck rolls.
The other driver drove away. Who pays for the tow after a hit-and-run?
Usually your own policy, through uninsured-motorist coverage or collision coverage, and the adjuster will want the police report number first. Call 911 from the scene, give the direction the other car went and anything you saw of the plate or the color, and get the report number before you leave. Our receipt shows the pickup point, the time, the destination and the mileage, which matches the report and is what the adjuster asks for next. Photograph the scene wide enough to show the road and the exit sign, not just the cars, and keep it all in one folder on your phone.
I left things in the car and it is already at the body shop. How do I get them back?
Call the shop. Most body shops in Union, Middlesex and Essex County will let you into the car during business hours, and many will bag what you ask for and hold it at the counter. If we are holding the car overnight for you, call dispatch and come by during the day with ID and we walk you to it. If the car went to a rotation yard, the yard sets its own rules and usually requires the registered owner in person. Get the registration, the insurance card, the garage opener and the EZ-Pass out first; those are the items that cause trouble when they sit in a wreck for weeks.
After a crash, the receipt still shows the pickup point, the destination and the mileage for the adjuster.
There were three cars in the crash. Can one truck take two of them?
No, and you would not want it to. Each car gets its own flatbed, its own hook, its own receipt and its own destination, because each one is a separate insurance claim and the adjusters need clean paperwork. If two of the cars are yours or belong to family, say so and two trucks roll from Linden together. On a Turnpike or Parkway chain collision, State Police will want the lane open fast and the Authority's authorized garage clears it, so call while you are still exchanging information, tell the trooper where the car is going, and our flatbed takes it from the exit or the garage's lot.
Local Towing: 15 answers
Everything drivers ask us about local towing. More on the local towing page and in the local towing guide.
How much does a local tow cost in New Jersey?
A local tow is a flat hook fee for the dispatch and the loading plus a per-mile rate for the loaded miles from pickup to drop-off, read as one total before the truck leaves Linden. The drive to reach you is not billed and the first stretch of loaded miles is inside the base, so most tows inside Union County stay at the base number. The hook moves with the truck: a wheel-lift is slightly less than the flatbed an AWD or electric car needs. The hour, the day, the weather and scheduling ahead do not move it; no night, weekend, holiday, fuel or passenger surcharges, no membership. Call (908) 444-0129 with both addresses.
Can I schedule a tow for a specific time?
Yes. Scheduled tows get a window you choose, same-day or next-day, and the driver calls before he arrives. A scheduled tow costs the same as one dispatched now.
Will you send a wheel-lift or a flatbed?
A front- or rear-wheel-drive car that rolls and steers rides a wheel-lift for slightly less. AWD, electric, lowered, luxury and non-rolling cars ride a flatbed. The dispatcher decides from the make and model and tells you which is coming.
Can you tow a car with no plates or expired registration?
Yes, with proof of ownership. A flatbed transport is how a car that cannot legally be driven gets to the shop, the dealer or the inspection station.
The shop is closed when you get there. What happens?
We leave the car in the shop's lot with the key in the drop box and send you a photo, or hold it and deliver first thing in the morning if you prefer. Say which when you book.
Can I ride along?
In most cases one passenger can ride in the cab to the destination. Tell the dispatcher how many people are with the car.
Do you tow cars I just bought from a private seller?
Yes. We meet you at the seller's address, photograph the car before it moves, and deliver it to your driveway or your mechanic. It is a local tow at the flat rate.
Do you offer accounts for shops and dealers?
Yes. Shops, dealers, property managers and fleets get a direct line, net terms and one monthly invoice itemized by vehicle. Set it up by phone or through the contact page.
Is a tow cheaper than driving a car that runs badly to the shop?
Almost always, when the symptom is overheating, an oil light, a flashing check-engine light, a slipping transmission or a grinding bearing. The tow is a fraction of the repair a short drive can cause.
Do you tow to shops outside your service area?
Yes, at the per-mile rate. Anything more than about an hour away is quoted as a long-distance run with both addresses.
Can you move an abandoned car off my property?
If it is yours or you have the owner's authorization, yes. Abandoned vehicles on private property require the town's notice steps and usually the police; we tell you what is required and tow once it is satisfied.
Do you charge more at night or on weekends?
No. The hook and mileage structure is the same at every hour and every day of the year.
Can you tow to my driveway if nobody is home?
Yes. Tell the dispatcher where the car should sit and where the key should go: under the mat, in the mailbox, in a lockbox or handed to a neighbor. The driver sets the car where you said, photographs it in the driveway with the time on the photo and texts you the picture before he leaves. A flatbed needs about forty feet of straight clearance to drop the ramps; on a narrow street the driver drops at the curb and rolls the car the last few feet. Garages with low doors are a skate job and the car is rolled in by hand.
What is the farthest a tow can be and still count as local?
Anything with both ends inside the 45-minute map around Linden, which covers 163 towns across Union, Middlesex, Essex, Hudson, Somerset, Morris, Monmouth, Bergen and Passaic counties. Westfield to Morristown, Elizabeth to New Brunswick and Jersey City to Rahway are all local tows quoted as hook plus mileage. Once the drop is more than about an hour from Linden or outside the nine counties, the same car is quoted as a long-distance run with both addresses, tolls and the return leg in one number. The dispatcher tells you which applies before you decide.
Can you tow my car out of a parking deck or a tight garage?
Yes. A parking deck with less than about seven feet of clearance will not take a tow truck, so the driver puts the car on skates or a dolly and rolls it to the entrance or the nearest level the truck can reach, then loads it there. That is part of the hook, not a separate charge. A home garage with a low door or a sharp turn works the same way in reverse: the car is set at the apron and rolled in by hand. Tell the dispatcher the deck's clearance sign or the garage layout and the driver brings the right gear the first time.
Long Distance Towing: 16 answers
Everything drivers ask us about long distance towing. More on the long distance towing page and in the long distance towing guide.
How much does long distance towing cost from New Jersey?
A long distance tow is quoted as one number before the truck leaves Linden: the hook, the route mileage at the per-mile rate, tolls both ways and the driver's return leg. Distance moves it most, so the shore or Philadelphia costs less than Boston or Washington DC, and a non-running car that has to be winched or skated is said up front rather than added later. The hour, the day, the weather, the town you start from and a passenger in the cab do not move it; no fuel adjustment, daily rate or waiting fee, no membership. Scheduled runs take a deposit at booking with the balance on delivery. Call (908) 444-0129 with both addresses and the make and model.
How far will you tow?
Anywhere in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic on a single-driver run, and farther by arrangement. There is no minimum or maximum distance. Get a quote with both addresses.
Is a car carrier cheaper than a flatbed for a long distance move?
Only for very long hauls where you can wait for a load. For same-day, door-to-door service under a few hundred miles, a dedicated flatbed is usually less and always faster.
What is included in the long distance quote?
The hook, the route mileage, tolls both ways and the driver's return leg, as one number. No fuel adjustment, daily rate, waiting fee or passenger fee is added later.
Do I pay before or after?
A deposit at booking for scheduled runs, the balance on delivery. Emergency same-day runs are paid on delivery. Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, cash, or account terms for dealers and fleets.
Can I ride along on a long distance tow?
For most runs one passenger can ride in the cab. Say so when you book. We can drop you at a train station or airport near the destination after the car is delivered.
Can you move a car that does not run?
Yes. It is winched onto the flatbed and strapped at the tires. A car with no key or a locked steering column is loaded on skates or a dolly.
Can you pick a car up from a tow yard in another state?
Yes, on your signed release. We can pay the yard's balance on your behalf and add it to your receipt so you do not have to go in person.
Will you tow a Tesla or an AWD car long distance?
Yes, on the flatbed with all four wheels on the deck for the whole run. EVs are loaded in Transport Mode or on skates. See the flatbed page for the method.
How soon can the car leave?
A breakdown called in before noon usually leaves the same day. Scheduled runs leave in the window you book. The driver calls the day before and again when he is close.
Do you deliver into Manhattan or Brooklyn?
Yes. Tunnel and bridge tolls are in the quote. Garage clearance in the city limits where a flatbed can drop; we confirm the address before we leave.
Will insurance pay for a long distance tow?
Collision coverage often pays to bring a crashed car back to your chosen shop, and some roadside plans reimburse a long tow up to a distance or dollar limit. The receipt shows both addresses and mileage for the claim.
Do you move motorcycles and trailers long distance?
Yes. Motorcycles ride upright in a chock with soft straps for the whole run. Small trailers and compact equipment under the deck's rating ride the same way.
How long does a long distance tow take from New Jersey?
Loading takes about thirty minutes at pickup and unloading about twenty at delivery; the drive is the road time on the route plus a strap check in the first few miles and at each fuel stop. Philadelphia and the shore are two hours from Linden, Boston and Washington DC about four, Buffalo five to six. The dispatcher gives you a real window that already includes Parkway beach traffic, the I-95 crawl through Connecticut or Turnpike backups, and the driver calls the receiving contact an hour out so nobody waits in a lot.
Do you run long distance tows in snow or bad weather?
We do not drive a loaded flatbed into a nor'easter on I-80, an ice storm on the Parkway or a lake-effect whiteout on the Thruway. If the forecast turns before a scheduled run, the dispatcher calls the day before, offers the next clear window and moves your deposit with it. A same-day emergency run in marginal weather is a judgment call the dispatcher makes with you on the phone. Rain alone does not stop a run; the car is strapped at the tires and the driver checks the straps at every stop regardless of weather.
Can you deliver a car to a college campus or a military base?
Yes. For a campus, we need the lot or dorm name and the move-in window, because many lots are chained or permit-only during move-in and the driver needs a legal spot to drop the ramps. For a base such as Fort Meade, Andrews or Picatinny, the driver needs to be on the visitor list or meet the service member at the gate, and we confirm that with you before the run. Penn State, Rutgers, UConn, Delaware, Cornell and the Boston schools are regular August and May runs from Union, Middlesex, Essex and Hudson County.
Motorcycle Towing: 16 answers
Everything drivers ask us about motorcycle towing. More on the motorcycle towing page and in the motorcycle towing guide.
How much does motorcycle towing cost in NJ?
A motorcycle tow is a flat hook fee plus loaded mileage to the shop or garage you choose, quoted on the call before the flatbed leaves Linden. The hook covers the truck, the chock, the straps, a dolly and the photographs; none are separate lines. Mileage depends on the destination, and a bike on its side in a ditch is a winch-out plus the tow, both said up front. The hour, the day, the rain and the town do not change the number; no night, weekend, holiday or fuel surcharge, no passenger fee, no storage, no membership. A roadside jump, plug or fuel delivery is one flat price instead. Call (908) 444-0129 with the make, model and destination.
Do you have a wheel chock on the truck?
Yes. Every motorcycle tow is loaded into a locking front-wheel chock with soft-loop straps on the triple tree and frame. Tell the dispatcher the make and model so the right chock insert is on the truck before it leaves Linden.
Will you tow a motorcycle with a wheel-lift or a sling?
No. Motorcycles ride upright on a flatbed only. A sling or a wheel-lift adapted for a bike is how tanks get scratched and bars get bent.
Can you pick up a bike from a parking garage?
Yes. The flatbed usually cannot fit inside a deck, so the bike is walked or dollied to the entrance and loaded outside. Tell the dispatcher the garage name and the level.
Will you tow a bike with no key or with the steering locked?
Yes, with proof of ownership. A bike with locked steering is loaded on a dolly under the front wheel and winched up the deck.
My bike is on its side in a ditch. Can you get it out?
Yes. The driver rights it, rigs a soft strap to the frame, walks it back to the pavement and loads it. That is a winch-out plus a tow, and both are quoted on the call.
Can I ride in the truck with my bike?
Yes, one passenger rides in the cab to the destination.
Do you tow trikes, Spyders and sidecar rigs?
Yes. Three-wheelers are loaded like a small car with ramps bridged and straps at four frame or wheel points, no chock. Tell the dispatcher it is a trike.
Can you jump start my motorcycle instead of towing it?
Often, yes. Our packs have a low-current setting for bike batteries. If the bike starts and charges, you ride away; if the battery is finished, we tell you and can tow the bike from the same call.
Do you tow motorcycles at night and in the rain?
Yes. Dispatch is staffed 24 hours a day, every day, and the price is the same structure at any hour. In heavy rain the driver will still load the bike; the straps and the chock do not care about the weather.
Will insurance pay for a motorcycle tow after a crash?
Collision coverage almost always pays for the tow to a repair shop, and if the other driver was at fault their liability coverage typically reimburses it. We give you an itemized receipt and photos from pickup and delivery.
How far will you take my bike?
Anywhere. Local runs are hook plus mileage. Long-distance runs to the shore, New York, Pennsylvania or farther are one quoted number that includes tolls and the return leg.
Can I book a motorcycle tow in advance for a dealer drop or a storage move?
Yes. Scheduled runs are booked by the day and hour with the pickup and drop addresses and the make and model, and the price is the same hook-plus-mileage structure as a breakdown tow with no rush fee for booking ahead. A round trip to the dealer and back is quoted as one number. Riders moving bikes into storage in November and out in April, riders with a track bike and no trailer, and buyers and sellers in a private sale use this every week. The driver photographs the bike at pickup and the shop or the other party signs the receipt at drop.
Will you move a project bike or a barn find with no title, no plate or no key?
Yes, with proof you are entitled to move it: a bill of sale, an estate letter, or a registration in your name or the seller's with the seller present. The bike does not have to run or be street-legal. Flat tires go on a dolly, a locked fork gets the front wheel dollied and the bike winched up the ramp, and loose parts ride in bins in the cab. Longer runs to a restorer or an out-of-state buyer are quoted as one number that includes tolls and the return leg.
Say it is a bike, and the truck that meets you at the exit is the flatbed with the wheel chock.
One bike went down on a group ride. Does the whole group have to wait?
No. The rider whose bike is down calls with the road, the nearest exit or cross street and the make of the bike; the flatbed takes the bike and that rider back to a garage or a shop, and the group rides on or waits by choice. If the bike rolls, push it off the shoulder to a gas station or diner lot first and tell the dispatcher where you ended up. Only one passenger rides in the cab, so a second rider who stayed with the bike follows or gets a lift.
Heavy Duty Towing: 16 answers
Everything drivers ask us about heavy duty towing. More on the heavy duty towing page and in the heavy duty towing guide.
How much does heavy duty towing cost in New Jersey?
A heavy duty tow is a hook fee sized to the wrecker the unit needs plus loaded mileage to your yard or shop, quoted on the call before the truck leaves Linden. The hook rises with the class of truck: a medium-duty wheel-lift for a sprinter van, an underlift for a straight truck or bus, a heavy wrecker for a loaded tractor-trailer. Mileage depends on the destination. Recovery work, such as righting a unit on its side, is quoted separately and said up front. The hour, the day and the weather do not change the number; no after-hours or fuel surcharge, no storage, and fleet accounts get net terms. Call (908) 444-0129 with the GVWR and the destination.
Can you tow a loaded truck?
Yes, within the rating of the truck we send. Tell the dispatcher the GVWR from the door sticker, whether the unit is loaded and roughly with what, so the right class of wrecker is dispatched the first time.
Do you tow tractors with the trailer attached?
Yes. The unit is towed together with the wrecker's air supplying the trailer brakes, or the trailer is dropped and moved separately. Say whether the fifth wheel can be released and whether the trailer is loaded and sealed.
Do you tow buses?
Yes. School buses, shuttles and coaches are lifted from the front on an underlift with the driveshaft pulled and the air brakes released through the wrecker.
Do you do commercial roadside, like tires, jump starts and air leaks?
Yes. Heavy-duty jump starts, tire changes with your spare, minor air-system fixes, diesel delivery and priming, and cab lockouts, each at a flat price. If it turns out to need the wrecker, the wrecker is dispatched from the same call.
Do you offer net terms for fleets?
Yes, for established accounts, with one monthly invoice itemized by unit number. New accounts pay per job by card until history is built. Ask dispatch or use the contact page to set one up.
How fast can a heavy wrecker get to the port or to a Turnpike exit?
Exit 13, Port Newark, Port Elizabeth and the Linden and Elizabeth industrial areas are minutes from the yard. The Carteret to Edison warehouse belt is inside twenty. Kearny, Secaucus and the Meadowlands are twenty to thirty-five. The dispatcher gives you a real window. Turnpike and Parkway shoulders are served by the Authority's authorized garages. Book with us and we take the car from the exit or the garage's lot.
Where will you take the unit?
Your yard, your shop, a dealer or a tire shop, anywhere you choose. Never our yard, so there is never storage. Runs outside the area are quoted as long-distance towing with one number including tolls.
Can the reefer keep running while the truck is towed?
Usually, if the reefer has its own fuel and power. Tell the dispatcher it is refrigerated and we will confirm on the call.
What if my driver is near his hours limit?
Tell our dispatcher. We can take the unit to a yard where the driver can rest and your company can send a relief driver, rather than towing to a shop that is closed.
Do you break seals on a loaded trailer?
No. A sealed trailer stays sealed. If the load has to be lightened for the tow, that is your call and your people.
Is there an extra charge for nights, weekends or holidays?
No. Commercial tows are quoted on the same hook-plus-mileage structure at any hour, with recovery work quoted separately and up front.
What is the difference between a heavy tow and a heavy recovery?
A tow moves a unit that is upright on its wheels on pavement: hook fee sized to the truck plus mileage. A recovery is the work needed before the unit can be towed, such as righting a tractor on its side, winching a box truck out of a swale or straightening a jackknifed trailer, and it uses the boom, the winch and sometimes a second wrecker. Recovery is quoted separately and said up front, and the tow that follows is quoted the way it always is. Describe what you see on scene and the dispatcher tells you which one you have.
Can you drop the trailer and tow just the tractor?
Yes, when the location allows it. The trailer can be dropped on its landing gear at a terminal, a yard or a lot with the property owner's agreement, for your relief tractor to collect, or moved separately by a second unit as a scheduled local tow. On a highway shoulder the trailer cannot be left and the combination moves together, with the wrecker supplying air and lights to the trailer; on the Turnpike shoulder that first move is made by the Authority's authorized garage, and we take the combination from the exit or the garage's lot. Tell the dispatcher whether the fifth wheel releases, whether the trailer is loaded and sealed and whether a relief tractor is coming.
For a truck, add the GVWR and whether it is loaded, and the heavy wrecker is waiting at the exit.
Do you tow trucks placed out of service at a DOT inspection?
Yes. A unit placed out of service at a roadside inspection or a weigh station cannot be driven and has to leave on a wrecker. We take it to your shop or your yard, and the receipt shows the unit number, pickup location, destination and mileage for the inspection file. Tell the dispatcher if the driver is near his hours limit so the unit goes somewhere he can rest and a relief driver can take over.
Winch Out: 12 answers
Everything drivers ask us about winch out. More on the winch out page and in the winch out guide.
How much does a winch out cost in New Jersey?
A winch out is one flat recovery price for a standard pull, quoted on the call before the truck leaves Linden. It is lower than a tow because there is no mileage leg; the car goes back onto the pavement and, if it drives, that is the whole bill. What changes the number is the work on scene, said up front: a long pull down an embankment, a snatch-block rig or a second truck. The hour, the day, the snowstorm and the town do not change it; no night, weekend, holiday, storm or fuel surcharge, no membership. If the car will not drive afterward, the tow is quoted on scene with no second dispatch fee. Call (908) 444-0129.
Will winching damage my car?
Not when it is rigged to a proper recovery point and pulled straight. We never hook to suspension parts or bumpers. If your car has a screw-in tow eye in the trunk kit, have it ready; it makes the pull cleaner.
Can you get me out during a snowstorm?
Yes. We run winch-outs through the storm as long as the roads are passable for the truck, and the day after when the drifts freeze. Arrival windows stretch when the roads are bad and the dispatcher tells you the real number.
What if the car will not drive after the pull?
The flatbed is already there. The driver checks underneath, tells you what he sees, and the tow to your shop is quoted on the spot. No second truck, no second callout fee.
Is a winch out cheaper than a tow?
Yes. A tow is a hook fee plus mileage to a destination. A winch out has no destination; the car goes back on the road and, if it drives, that is the whole bill.
My car is on its side. Can you winch it out?
A rolled car is a recovery that starts with police on scene and ends with a tow, because there is damage you cannot see. We right it, load it on the flatbed and take it to your body shop.
Should I keep trying to drive out while I wait?
No. Spinning the wheels digs the car in and polishes snow into ice; rocking an automatic overheats the transmission. If a gentle first try did not work, stop and wait.
Can you pull out a box truck or a van?
Yes. Commercial units are pulled with the medium or heavy wrecker's winch. Tell the dispatcher the unit, whether it is loaded and where the nearest solid ground is.
Can I stay in the car with the heater running?
Only if the tailpipe is clear of snow. A buried tailpipe fills the car with exhaust. Clear it first, or run the engine in short bursts with a window cracked. If the car could be hit, get out and behind the guardrail.
How fast can you get to me in the snow?
Inside Union County and the neighboring towns, usually well under an hour even in a storm. At the edge of the map, longer. The dispatcher gives you a real window based on the roads and where the nearest truck is.
If the car is stuck on the local road at the bottom of the exit ramp, that is our winch-out, dispatched directly.
Do you charge to come out if the car is already free when you arrive?
If the truck was dispatched and arrives to find the car gone or already out, a dispatch fee applies, and it is stated on the call. Call us back to cancel before the truck arrives and there is no charge.
Roadside Assistance: 16 answers
Everything drivers ask us about roadside assistance. More on the roadside assistance page and in the roadside assistance guide.
How much does roadside assistance cost in New Jersey?
Each roadside service has one flat price: a jump start, a tire change, a lockout, a winch-out, and fuel delivery plus the fuel at cost. The dispatcher quotes it before the technician leaves Linden, and it does not change with the hour, the day, the weather or the town, so a lockout at 3 a.m. on a holiday costs what it costs at noon. No night, weekend, holiday or fuel surcharge, no membership, no fee to call and ask. The bill changes only when the fix cannot work, such as a finished battery or no spare; then the tow is quoted on scene as hook plus mileage and you pay the tow, not both. Call (908) 444-0129 and describe the symptom.
Do I need a membership or AAA?
No. You call, the tech comes, you pay for the service by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or cash. Most memberships and many insurance policies reimburse an out-of-network call, and the itemized receipt is what they ask for.
How long will I wait?
Inside Union County and the neighboring towns, typically under 30 minutes. At the edge of the 45-minute area, 35 to 45 minutes. The dispatcher gives you a real window based on where the nearest tech is.
Can you jump start a hybrid or a diesel?
Yes. Hybrids have a 12-volt auxiliary battery that is jumped normally. The packs are rated for full-size diesels and dual-battery trucks. The battery is load-tested afterward.
What if I have no spare tire?
The tow to the tire shop you choose is quoted on the same call. About a third of flat-tire calls end this way, and you do not pay a second callout.
My child is locked in the car. What do I do?
Call 911 first and us second. The officer can break a window if the child is in distress; the tech opens the door without damage if he arrives first. Call both.
Can you make me a new key?
No. We open the door and can tow you to a dealer or automotive locksmith if the key is lost, but we do not cut or program keys.
What if the tech cannot fix it on the roadside?
The flatbed is dispatched from the same call and the tow is quoted on scene as hook plus mileage. You do not pay a second dispatch fee.
Do you come to parking decks?
Yes. A technician fits in any deck. If the car needs a tow afterward, it is dollied to the entrance and loaded outside; tell the dispatcher the garage name and level.
Do you take cards?
Yes, all major cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay on site, as well as cash. Fleet accounts get a monthly invoice.
Is there an extra charge at night or on holidays?
No. Roadside prices are the same flat structure at any hour, any day.
Do you deliver premium fuel?
We carry regular unleaded and diesel. A few gallons of regular will not harm a car that normally takes premium.
Do you offer roadside assistance for fleets and small businesses?
Yes. Landscapers, contractors, delivery vans, car-share cars and small trucking companies set up an account through the contact page and get a direct line and one monthly invoice instead of a card at the curb. The services are the same: jump starts on dual-battery vans and diesels, tire changes with the unit's spare, lockouts on cabs and cargo doors, fuel and winch-outs. A driver who is not the owner does not need to prove anything on scene; the account does that. If a unit cannot be fixed roadside, the tow to your yard or your shop is quoted on the same call at the account rate.
Can a family member call for an older driver or a new driver who does not know what is wrong?
Yes, and it happens every day. A son in Edison calls for his mother stuck in a Westfield driveway, or a parent calls for a teenager on the shoulder of Route 22 who is not sure whether the car is out of gas or the battery died. The dispatcher needs the town, the nearest landmark or exit, the make and color of the car and a phone number for whoever is with it. The technician calls that number when he is minutes out. The person who called can pay over the phone, and the receipt goes to whichever email you choose.
What does the roadside technician actually carry on the truck?
Lithium jump packs rated for full-size diesels and a low-current setting for motorcycles, a battery load tester, a low-profile floor jack, a breaker bar and torque wrench, a plug kit and portable compressor for tubeless tires, inflatable lockout wedges and long-reach tools, five gallons each of regular and diesel, a tow strap and soft shackles for a winch-out, cones, an amber light bar and a reflective vest. What he does not carry is a cooling system, a fuel pump or a key-cutting machine, which is why some calls are honestly quoted as a tow.
Jump Start: 11 answers
Everything drivers ask us about jump start. More on the jump start page and in the jump start guide.
How much does a jump start cost in NJ?
A jump start is one flat price, quoted on the call before the technician leaves Linden. It covers the dispatch, the start with a regulated pack, the load test of the battery and the charging check. The number does not change with the hour, the day, the weather or the town, whether the car is a Civic in a driveway or a diesel on a Route 22 shoulder; no night, weekend, holiday or fuel surcharge, no membership. It changes only if the battery or alternator is finished, when the tow to your shop is quoted as hook plus mileage and you pay the tow, not both. Call (908) 444-0129 for the exact figure.
How fast can you get to me for a jump start?
Inside Union County and the neighboring parts of Middlesex and Essex, usually well under 30 minutes. Toward the edge of the 45-minute area, 35 to 45 minutes. The dispatcher gives you a real window on the call.
Can jump starting damage my car's electronics?
Not when it is done with a regulated pack in the correct sequence. That is what the tech is for. The risk comes from cheap cables, reversed clamps and jumping off another car's alternator.
Can you jump start a hybrid?
Yes. Hybrids have a 12-volt auxiliary battery that is jumped at a dedicated terminal, usually under the hood. The tech knows where it is on the common models.
Can you jump start a diesel truck or a car with start-stop?
Yes. Our packs are rated for full-size diesels and dual-battery trucks, and they are regulated for the AGM batteries that start-stop cars use.
How long should I drive after a jump?
At least 30 minutes of steady road driving. Idling in the driveway does not put a useful charge back.
What if the car dies again the next morning?
The battery will not hold a charge and needs replacing. The tester usually shows this on the first visit, and the tech will tell you so.
What if the jump does not work?
Then it is probably the starter, the alternator or a fuel problem, and the car needs a shop. We dispatch the tow from the same call at the local towing rate. You do not pay the jump plus the tow.
Can you jump a car in a parking garage?
Yes. The portable pack is made for it; no second car has to be positioned. Tell the dispatcher the garage, the level and the nearest pillar number.
Do I need a membership or roadside plan?
No. You call, the tech comes, you pay one flat price by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or cash. Most roadside plans reimburse an out-of-network jump start with the receipt we give you.
Can you replace the battery on the spot?
Not roadside. If the battery is finished we tell you, and we can tow the car to the parts store or shop of your choice from the same call.
Flat Tire Change: 15 answers
Everything drivers ask us about flat tire change. More on the flat tire change page and in the flat tire change guide.
How much does a roadside tire change cost in NJ?
A roadside tire change is one flat price, quoted on the call before the technician leaves Linden. It covers the dispatch, the truck shielding the scene, the spare installed to torque and inflated, and the minutes a seized wheel adds. The number does not change with the hour, the day, the weather or the town; no night, weekend, holiday or fuel surcharge, no membership. The one thing that changes it is a car with no usable spare, two flats or a bent rim, which becomes a tow to the tire shop you choose, quoted as hook plus mileage on the same call so you pay the tow, not both. Call (908) 444-0129 for the exact number.
How fast can you get to me for a flat tire?
Inside Union County and the neighboring parts of Middlesex and Essex, usually well under 30 minutes. Toward the edge of the 45-minute area, 35 to 45 minutes. The dispatcher gives you a real window on the call.
I lost my wheel lock key. Can you still change the tire?
Usually yes. We carry a set of lock-removal sockets. In rare cases the lock has to come off at a shop, and that becomes a tow.
Can you bring me a new tire?
Not roadside. Tires have to be matched and mounted at a shop. We install your spare or tow you to the tire shop of your choice.
My car has no spare. What happens?
The tech can try the inflator kit if the puncture is small. If it will not hold, the car is towed to a tire shop you choose at the local towing rate quoted on the call.
Is a donut spare safe on the highway?
At fifty miles an hour or under, for about fifty miles. Go straight to a tire shop and avoid the highway if you can.
Can the donut go on the front of my AWD car?
On many AWD cars, no. The donut goes on the rear and a full-size wheel is moved forward. The tech knows the rule for the common models and follows the manual on the rest.
Can you change a tire on my pickup or SUV?
Yes. The tech brings a floor jack and stand rated for the weight and the tool for a spare mounted under the bed.
Do you change tires on electric vehicles?
Yes, at the EV's specific jack points and never under the battery pack. Most EVs have no spare, so the call is often a flatbed tow to a shop that stocks the tire.
What should I do while I wait on the shoulder?
Get the car as far right as the shoulder allows with the wheels turned away from traffic and the hazards on. Stay belted in the car unless it is in danger. Do not try to change a tire on the traffic side yourself.
Do you need my roadside plan or insurance?
No. You pay us directly and we give you an itemized receipt. Most roadside plans reimburse an out-of-network tire change with that receipt.
Is pothole season really worse for flat tires?
Yes. March and April are our busiest months for tire calls. The freeze-thaw cycle opens potholes on Routes 1 & 9, Route 22 and Route 27 faster than they are patched, and a pothole strike pinches the sidewall rather than puncturing the tread, so the tire cannot be plugged. The same hit often bends the rim or takes two tires on one side. The spare goes on if there is one; two flats or a bent rim is a tow to the tire shop, quoted on the same call.
The lug nuts are off but the wheel is stuck on the hub. What do you do?
That is corrosion between the aluminum wheel and the steel hub after a winter of road salt, and it is common. The tech has the car on a floor jack with a stand under the frame, works a dead-blow mallet around the back of the tire from the side away from traffic until the wheel releases, then cleans the hub face so the spare seats flat and torques correctly. It adds a few minutes and no charge. Do not kick a stuck wheel on a car sitting on a scissor jack.
Will the tire pressure light go off after the spare is on?
Usually not right away. A donut spare has no pressure sensor, so the dashboard light stays on or blinks until a full-size wheel with a sensor is back on the car. That is normal and not a fault. The tech leaves the flat tire's sensor undisturbed so the shop can move it to the new tire, and the light resets after a few minutes of driving once that is done.
Car Lockout: 14 answers
Everything drivers ask us about car lockout. More on the car lockout page and in the car lockout guide.
How much does a car lockout cost in NJ?
A car lockout is one flat price, not hook plus mileage, because the car is not going anywhere. It covers the dispatch, the damage-free open with wedges and reach tools and a trunk release if the keys are back there, and the dispatcher quotes it before the technician leaves Linden. The number does not change with the hour, the day, the weather or the town, and there is no night, weekend, holiday or fuel surcharge and no membership. It changes only if the problem is the key rather than the door, when the tow to a locksmith or dealer is quoted as hook plus mileage and you pay that, not both. Call (908) 444-0129 and ask; the quote is free.
How fast can you get to me for a lockout?
Inside Union County and the neighboring parts of Middlesex and Essex, usually well under 30 minutes. Toward the edge of the 45-minute area, 35 to 45 minutes. The dispatcher gives you a real window on the call.
Do you need proof it is my car?
Yes. Once the door is open we ask for ID and registration or an insurance card. It takes a minute and it protects you.
Will the door, the glass or the weatherstrip be damaged?
No. The inflatable wedge spreads the pressure across the frame and the reach tool works the handle from inside the cabin. Nothing goes down the window channel and nothing touches the glass edge or the wiring.
My keys are in the trunk. Can you get them?
Yes on almost every car. The door is opened first, then the tech reaches the trunk through a folding seat or uses the interior trunk release. On a few luxury models the trunk cannot be opened without the key, and the dispatcher will tell you if yours is one.
Can you make me a new key?
No. We are a towing and roadside company. We open the door and can tow you to a dealer or an automotive locksmith if the key is lost, or you can have a mobile locksmith come to the car.
My fob is dead and the doors will not open. What do I do?
Most fobs hide a mechanical key. Slide the release, pull the blade and look for a keyhole under a cap on the driver's handle. To start the car, hold the fob against the start button. If that works, you need a coin battery, not a tech.
A child or a pet is locked in the car. What should I do?
Call 911 first, then call us. An officer can break a window if the tech is more than a few minutes away, and on a hot or cold day that is the right call. Stay at the car and shade the window.
Can you open a truck or a work van?
Yes. Commercial cabs are opened the same damage-free way. Cargo doors with separate locks may need a locksmith, and the tech will tell you.
Can you open a Tesla or another electric vehicle?
Yes. The tech knows the manual door release and, if the 12-volt battery is dead, the access point to jump it so the car boots and unlocks.
Do you need my roadside plan or insurance?
No. You pay us directly and we give you an itemized receipt. Most roadside plans reimburse an out-of-network lockout with that receipt.
My car door is frozen shut and the key will not turn. What should I do before you arrive?
Try the other doors first; ice forms unevenly and the passenger or a rear door often opens. Warm the key in your hand, not with a lighter, which damages the chip. Do not pour hot water on the glass or the lock, and do not yank a handle that will not move, because the handle and the seal cost more than the call. If the interior lights are dark and the fob does nothing, the battery is dead and the tech brings the jump pack along with the lockout kit. Say which of these it looks like on the call and the right tools are on the truck.
Can you open a rental car, a company van or a car that is not in my name?
Yes. The door is opened the same damage-free way. After it opens the tech asks for something that connects you to the car: the rental agreement and your license, a fleet account or company ID with the registration in the cab, the car-share reservation on your phone, or a registration or insurance card that shows your name or address. A call to the registered owner on speaker works for a family car. Rental companies and most credit-card rental coverages reimburse the lockout with our receipt.
When is a locksmith the better call than a lockout tech?
When the problem is the key, not the door. A key broken off in the lock or the ignition, a lost key with no spare anywhere, a fob that needs programming, or a lock cylinder that no longer works with the correct key are all locksmith jobs. We will still open the door so you are not standing outside, and tow the car to a dealer or locksmith if that is cheaper than a mobile visit to a far corner of the map. The dispatcher tells you which before anyone rolls, so you do not pay for a lockout that does not solve the problem.
Fuel Delivery: 15 answers
Everything drivers ask us about fuel delivery. More on the fuel delivery page and in the fuel delivery guide.
How much does emergency fuel delivery cost in NJ?
Fuel delivery is one flat delivery price plus the fuel itself at cost, and the dispatcher quotes both on the call before the technician leaves Linden. The delivery price covers the dispatch, the pour, the restart help and the priming if a diesel ran dry. It does not change with the hour, the day, the weather or the town; no night, weekend, holiday or fuel surcharge on the delivery, no membership. The bill changes only if the job becomes a tow, because the diesel will not bleed, the wrong fuel went in or the pump failed; then the tow is quoted as hook plus mileage and you pay that, not both. Call (908) 444-0129 and ask.
How fast can you bring me fuel?
Inside Union County and the neighboring parts of Middlesex and Essex, usually well under 30 minutes. Toward the edge of the 45-minute area, 35 to 45 minutes. The dispatcher gives you a real window on the call.
How much fuel do you bring?
Two to three gallons, enough to reach the nearest station. It is a bridge, not a fill-up.
Can you bring premium?
We carry regular unleaded. A few gallons of regular will not harm a car that normally takes premium; fill up with premium at the station.
Do you deliver diesel?
Yes, and the tech knows the priming procedure for diesels that ran completely dry. If the system will not bleed roadside, the vehicle is towed to a shop from the same call.
I put the wrong fuel in. What do I do?
Do not start the car, not even to accessory. Call us and say wrong fuel, not started. The car is towed to a shop to have the tank drained. Starting it turns a drain into an injector and pump repair.
The car has fuel now but will not start. Why?
Cycle the key to on for a few seconds two or three times so the pump primes, then crank. If it still will not catch, the pump may have failed when it ran dry, or it was never the fuel. The tech checks and the tow is quoted on the spot.
Can I walk to a gas station instead?
Not along a highway. Walking the Parkway or Turnpike shoulder is dangerous and the station is farther than it looks. Stay with the car; on those two roads the Authority's authorized garage comes to the shoulder and we take over at the exit.
Do you deliver fuel to boats, generators or equipment?
Vehicles on roads and in lots are what we do. For equipment on a job site, call and ask; it depends on where it is and what it takes.
Do you need my roadside plan or insurance?
No. You pay us directly and we give you an itemized receipt. Most roadside plans reimburse an out-of-network fuel delivery with that receipt.
What if the car died on the Turnpike express lanes?
Say express lanes and the direction. There is no exit between 11 and 14, and the shoulder there is served by the Turnpike Authority's authorized garages, not by us; the dispatcher tells you how to reach them and books our tech to meet the car with the fuel, or the tow, at the exit or the garage's lot at the same flat price. Stay belted in the car with the hazards on until the authorized truck arrives.
Can you charge my electric car on the roadside?
No. We do not carry a mobile charger that can add useful range in a reasonable time, and we never push an EV or tow it on a wheel-lift. An EV that ran out of charge goes on the flatbed with all four wheels off the ground, in its tow or transport mode, to the nearest working fast charger, a dealer or your own driveway charger, at the local towing rate quoted on the call. If the car will not wake or unlock at all but shows plenty of range, that is the 12-volt battery and a jump start fixes it.
My diesel has fuel but will not start in the cold. Is that a fuel delivery?
Probably not. Below about fifteen degrees untreated diesel can gel and block the fuel filter with fuel still in the tank; the engine cranks, runs rough for a few seconds and dies, or never builds pressure. More cold diesel does not help. The fix is warmth and an anti-gel additive or a filter change, which means a tow to a heated shop or your yard. Tell the dispatcher the temperature and what the engine does, and he quotes the tow instead of sending fuel that will not work.
My hybrid ran out of gas and will not restart after fuel went in. What now?
Many hybrids shut the engine down to protect the catalyst and the hybrid battery when they run dry, and they need a specific sequence to wake: usually the power button cycled through ready mode several times with the foot off the brake, sometimes a wait of a few minutes. The tech knows the sequence for the common models and runs it after adding fuel. If the hybrid battery ran down too far during the shutdown, the dealer has to wake it and the tow is quoted on the spot.
Need towing and roadside assistance right now? One call, truck on the way.
Real dispatcher, 24 hours a day. Quoted price before we roll.
