Towing and Roadside for Commuters in New Jersey: Park-and-Ride Lots, Rush Hour and Late Trains

Commuters call us most at the end of the day: a car that will not start in a train station or park-and-ride lot after the last train home, or a breakdown on Routes 1 & 9, Route 22 or I-78 in rush-hour traffic. One call to (908) 444-0129 gets a jump, a tire, a lockout or a tow from Linden, with the price quoted first.

Why they call

Why commuters call The NJ Towing Service

A car that sits all day in a NJ Transit lot in January, or in August heat, is a car with a weak battery that finally gives up when you turn the key at 9 p.m. The station is often empty by then, the people who could give you a jump have gone home, and the next thing you need is a professional jump start, not a stranger with cables.

Our territory is commuter country: the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line stations through Linden, Rahway, Elizabeth and Metropark, the Raritan Valley Line through Cranford and Westfield, and the bus park-and-rides along the main corridors. Lots and decks are tight and badly lit, and the tech will ask for the lot name, the level and a nearby landmark so he can find you.

If the morning commute ends on the shoulder, the job is the same, whether it is a flat tire change or a full tow: the dispatcher decides whether the car can be fixed on the spot or needs a tow, quotes it, and the truck takes the car to your mechanic so you can deal with it after work instead of waiting on a tow yard.

One number, 24/7, price first.

Problems we solve

Problems we solve for commuters

The calls we get most from commuters, and what we do about each.

Dead battery after a day in the station lot

Cold mornings, hot afternoons and lights left on drain batteries that were already weak. The tech jumps the car with a professional pack and tells you whether it is worth driving straight to a shop. We do not sell or replace batteries.

Keys locked in the car at the station

A train to catch and keys on the seat is one of the most common lockouts we see. The door is opened without damage after a quick check of your ID and registration.

Flat tire in a parking deck

A deck limits where a jack can go and where a truck can fit. The tech works with the space available, and if the tire cannot be changed safely there, the car is moved to a tire shop.

Breakdown in rush-hour traffic

On Routes 1 & 9, Route 22, I-78 or I-287 we dispatch directly. On the Turnpike or Parkway the Authority's authorized garage clears the shoulder and we take the car from the exit.

A tow to your mechanic when the shop is closed

After hours the car can be left in your shop's lot with the key in the drop box, and you get a photo when it is dropped off.

Describe the problem; the dispatcher picks the truck.

FAQ

Questions from commuters

Short answers for commuters.

Can you jump my car in a NJ Transit lot or parking deck?

Yes. Tell the dispatcher the station or lot name, the level and the nearest pillar or row, and stay close to the car so the tech can find you.

Can you replace my battery?

No. We jump the car so you can drive to a shop or parts store. If it will not hold a charge, we can tow it to your mechanic.

Can I leave the car and catch my train?

For a tow, yes, if the dispatcher has the details and the key arrangement is agreed on the call. For a jump or a lockout, you need to be with the car.

Does a jump start cost more late at night?

No. A jump start is one flat price at any hour, any day.

What if I break down on the way to the station in the morning?

Call (908) 444-0129. If it is a roadside fix, the tech gets you moving; if it needs a tow, the car goes to your mechanic and you can leave the key arrangement with the dispatcher. See the jump start guide for what to check before you call.
