Towing for EV Drivers in New Jersey: Flatbed Only, to the Service Center or Charger You Choose
An electric car is towed on a flatbed with its drive wheels off the road, every time. Call (908) 444-0129 with the make and model and where the car should go, and the dispatcher quotes the tow before the truck leaves Linden.
Why ev drivers call The NJ Towing Service
In most EVs the motors are connected to the wheels, so rolling the car on two wheels can turn the motors and damage the drivetrain. Manufacturers generally say to carry an EV on a flatbed, and that is the only way we tow one. Your owner's manual explains the car's tow or transport mode; tell the dispatcher the model so the driver arrives prepared, with skates or dollies if the car cannot be put in neutral.
EV calls come in a few shapes: a car out of charge short of a station, a dead 12-volt battery that leaves the car unable to wake up or unlock, a flat on a car with no spare, or a fault the dash says needs service. We take the car to the service center, the shop or the charger you choose.
Price works the same as any flatbed tow: a flat hook fee plus a per-mile rate to the destination, quoted before dispatch, with no extra charge at night or on a holiday. If the destination is a service center beyond our map, the run is quoted as long-distance towing, one number with tolls and the return leg. The flatbed towing guide explains why AWD and electric cars ride with all four wheels off the road. We do not carry mobile charging. A car that is out of charge is a flatbed tow to the nearest charger or to your home, quoted before dispatch.
One number, 24/7, price first.

The calls we get most from ev drivers, and what we do about each.
Out of charge
The car goes on the flatbed and to the charger or address you choose. Tell the dispatcher which charging network or station you want.
Dead 12-volt battery
Many EVs will not wake up or unlock with a dead 12-volt battery. A jump start to the 12-volt system, where the owner's manual allows it, can get the car to boot.
Flat tire, no spare
Most EVs have no spare. The usual answer is a flatbed tow to a tire shop that stocks the size.
Locked out with a phone key
A dead phone or a car that will not recognize the key can lock you out. The tech opens the door without damage.
A warning light that says stop
Do not drive on it. A flatbed takes the car to the service center you name.
Describe the problem; the dispatcher picks the truck.

Call nowQuestions from ev drivers
Short answers for ev drivers.
Can you charge my EV on the roadside?
No. We tow the car on a flatbed to the charger, home or service center you choose.
Do you tow Teslas?
Yes, on a flatbed only. Check your owner's manual for the car's tow or transport mode, and tell the dispatcher the model.
Can you tow my EV to a service center outside your area?
Yes. Runs beyond our 45-minute map are quoted as long-distance towing, as one number before the truck leaves.
Does a flatbed cost more?
The flatbed hook fee is slightly higher than a wheel-lift and the per-mile rate is the same. The dispatcher gives you the exact figure on the call.
What should I tell the dispatcher about my EV?
The make and model, the state of charge if the screen still shows it, whether the car can be put in neutral or transport mode per the owner's manual, where the key or phone key is, and where the car should go.
