Tip #35: Ask the destination about storage charges before you pick it
Storage is where a cheap tow can turn into an expensive week. We do not run a storage lot and do not charge storage, but the place you send the car might. Ask about it before you choose a destination.

Call nowWhere storage charges come from
A tow moves the car. What it costs to keep the car after it arrives depends on where it went. Some repair shops charge a daily fee if a car sits after you decline a repair or after the work is done and not picked up. Some dealers do the same, especially for a car waiting on an insurance decision. Body shops and collision centers may charge while an adjuster takes their time. And a car taken to a police rotation yard after a crash is charged daily storage under that town's rules until it leaves.
None of that comes from us. We are a towing and roadside company, not a yard. Our price is a flat hook fee plus a per-mile rate, quoted before the truck rolls, with no storage, no night or weekend surcharges and no fees added later.

Call nowQuestions to ask the destination
Before you name a shop or dealer, call and ask: Do you charge to keep a car? From what day? Does the charge start if I decline the estimate? Can I pick the car up after hours if I decide to move it? If the answers are vague, write down who you spoke to and when.
If you are dealing with an insurer, ask the adjuster which shop they want the car at and whether they cover storage there. Moving a car twice is a cost too.

Call nowWhen in doubt, keep it under your control
If you have a driveway, home is the simplest answer while you sort out the repair. If the car is already sitting at a rotation yard after an accident, we can pick it up on a signed release and take it to your driveway or shop, which stops the daily clock. The towing answers page covers more on what a towing bill can and cannot include.
A last point about timing: storage costs usually start counting from the day the car arrives, not the day someone looks at it. If the shop cannot inspect the car for a week, that week may already be on the clock. Asking a direct question on the phone takes two minutes and can save you a week of charges, so it is worth doing even when you are tired and want the car gone.
