Tip #68: Ask how you can pay before the truck is dispatched
Confirm payment methods on the phone, not at the car. A company that takes cards and digital wallets gives you a record you can dispute and a receipt your insurer can use. We take all major cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and cash.

Call nowWhy ask first
Finding out at the car that the driver only takes cash, or only one kind of card, leaves you with a loaded car and a payment problem. Asking on the phone takes ten seconds and removes the surprise. It also tells you something about the company: a business that takes the payments most people carry is usually a business that expects to give receipts.
Ask when payment is due, too. For a local tow it is normally at the car or at drop-off.
If someone else is paying, such as a parent, an employer or a roadside plan, sort that out before the truck is dispatched, not at the car. Card payments can be taken over the phone in some cases, but plan for whoever is with the car to be able to pay on the spot.

Call nowWhich method to use
**A credit card** gives you the strongest record and a dispute process if a charge goes wrong.
**Apple Pay or Google Pay** use a card behind the scenes, so you keep the card's record, and you do not have to hand anything over. Useful if your wallet is locked in the car.
**A debit card** leaves a bank record, though dispute protections can differ from a credit card.
**Cash** works, but ask for an itemized receipt before you hand it over and photograph the receipt.
Whatever you use, check the amount on the card reader or phone screen before you approve it, and make sure it matches the quote. If it does not, ask before you tap, not after.

Call nowWhat we take
We take all major cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and cash at the car. The amount is the one you heard on the phone: a flat hook fee plus mileage for a tow, one flat price for roadside work. The itemized receipt follows by text or email.
Locked out with your wallet inside? Tell the dispatcher; a digital wallet on your phone solves it, and our car lockout service gets you back in. For more, see towing questions, or call (908) 444-0129. You can also request a quote through book online.
