Tip #75: A fair tow company tells you five things before the truck arrives
Before the truck reaches you, a fair tow company has told you who it is, the total price, what kind of truck is coming, roughly when, and how you can pay. If any of those is missing, ask.

Call nowThe five things
**1. Who is coming.** The company's name, so you can match it to the truck when it pulls up.
**2. The total price.** Not a range or a starting point: the hook fee, the miles and the total, with a clear statement that nothing is added at the car.
**3. The kind of truck.** A flatbed or a wheel-lift, and why it suits your car. For an all-wheel-drive, electric or damaged car, a flatbed is often the right call; your owner's manual will say.
**4. An arrival estimate.** An honest window based on where the nearest truck is right now, and a call if it changes. No one can promise traffic, but you should not be left guessing.
**5. How you can pay.** Cards, digital wallets, cash, so there is no surprise at the car.

Call nowAnd one thing you tell them
Where the car is going. You choose the destination, whether that is your mechanic, a dealer, a body shop or your driveway. A fair company quotes to the address you give it, not one it suggests for its own reasons.
Also tell the dispatcher anything that changes the job: the car is in a parking garage, it is on a steep driveway, a wheel is damaged, or the keys are lost. The more the company knows before the truck is sent, the more reliable its five answers are.
If you are on the New Jersey Turnpike or the Garden State Parkway, the shoulder is served by the Turnpike Authority's authorized garages. A fair company tells you that up front. Book with us and we take the car from the exit or the garage's lot to the place you choose.

Call nowWhat our dispatcher says on every call
Our dispatcher gives you the company name, the total as a flat hook fee plus mileage (or a single flat price for roadside work), the truck we are sending, an arrival estimate from Linden, and the payment options: all major cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and cash. The itemized receipt follows by text or email.
Call (908) 444-0129 and listen for all five. See emergency towing, check our service area, or read more short tips on the blog.
